I am usually behind the episodes, watching them several weeks after originally aired.

But two weeks ago one of the characters was tortured. Yes, he was a credible suspect in critically shooting the president.

But when a US attorney who was "allowed" to witness from an adjacent room and was protesting that this was an American citizen being tortured on American soil, the reply was: this is not American soil, this is the Pentagon. And we are the CIA and the Homeland security and this is according to the Patriot Act.

And I wonder how close to reality such an event can be.

1. look at what they have done to the Wiki Leaks guy- Manning (I remembered his name)

They have done horrible things to him while in prison while awaiting a trial to "break him" including having him sleep naked in his jail cell. I'm sure it is done.

9. This is horrible. Where was McCain?

I think that what he did deserves severed punishment. Many sources in third world countries were exposed. No, not spies or agents, only local people who would talk to us. But it was clear that he was the leak so why was there a need for torture?

And, as others and McCain clearly stated: tortured people will often say what their inquisitors want, just as long as this would stop the torture.

3. In fairness, Shonda Rhimes embellishes throughout the series. Things happen that are very improbable

in real life. Even outlandish, such as, there being no snipers to counteract the shooter's actions. Some of the material on the show is farfetched. We must be mindful that this is entertainment.

I actually LOVE the show, though.

4. I also found the stealing of the election and the bombing conspiracy headline facinating.

Love the "Daddy issues" that plague people who tend to run or win (Bush, McCain, Romney), the crappy advisors telling the candidate how to act for the public and becoming a horrible, boring stiff, the unahppy, fake marriage, and the "adoration" that people within the campaign will do to take the win because they "know" better than the people who are supposed to decide good, bad or ugly. Its all very realistic looking DC insider bs that makes the rest of us want to puke.. and makes us think F' it, they all suck and nothings ever going to change (yet we know the scale can get worse and tip us seriously off kilter, like now with the Pukes running typically liberal states and totally running them into the ground and stripping them of normally protected ideals that people within the state never thought that any party would dare touch).

5. Sadly, I agree with what you are sayin

I was once involved in local politics and saw, first hand, how some are being convinced to run and there are always individuals operating behind the scene tell them what they should do and say.

Small solace - the president has to resort to manipulating the election machine because all he had was the....red states..

I think that they finally spelled it that he is a Republican. I can't see - I hope - a Democratic candidate selecting a Bible thumper as a running mate.

7. democrats nominated carter for president, he was fairly thumpy. in a nice way.

8. I thought it was rather obvious that he was supposed to be in the "R" family.

Earlier on in the show, Olivia represented the opposing candidate over some sort of scandal; and he was a Dem... Also, the advisor has to keep being gay a secret, and that's normally a R thing to do.

6. Funnily enough, I recently read a book where there was a "black site" located in

Wisconsin, in the underground, on an old ammo plant. They did torture of Americans there, and told anyone who was taken to the facility they had no rights, and that they could do anything they wanted to them, and no one would ever know about it. Who knows if this actually goes on for real. I think there is a lot of top secret shit that is out there though.
