Aww, geezuz fucking chirst, Kim....

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/01/23/170122496/north-korea-threatens-nuclear-test-targeting-u-s

North Korea says it plans rocket and nuclear tests directly targeting the United States.

"In the new phase of our century-long struggle against the United States, we do not hide the fact that various satellites, long-range missiles that we will continue to launch and high-level nuclear test we will conduct will target our sworn enemy, the United States," said a statement Thursday from the North's National Defense Commission.

The statement was carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, and was reported by several media organizations, including Yonhap, the South Korean news service.

they hope to use to extort food. That's what they're thinking.

The top has insulated itself from reality almost as thoroughly as the Republicans have but even they know there is no way for Korea to fight a war against a huge nuclear power across the Pacific.

They just want "make it go away" food and possibly other items.

Now that Osama is dead they need a new bogeyman to release a video on queue when budget cuts come up.

I wonder what they pay him for it.

Il must know that his entire country will be instantly neutroned, every living thing reduced to jelly, seconds after we destroy any missile he launches toward us. This insane blathering must be designed for his starving subjects.

so much as they are meant to maintain the fear and respect of N. Korean citizens. I know it can be easy to dismiss N. Korean leadership as crazy. And in the case of the former Kim, that assessment might have had some merit. But I'm sure there are plenty of people in N. Korea's ranks that know full well what all out war with the U.S. would really mean.

Yes, I remember it like it was yesterday... that day in 1913 when we were all shocked to find that a non-existent communist North Korea had declared war on the USA... years before even the Russian revolution, let alone the Chinese revolution which was still more than two world wars away, and was itself a nessecary predicate to...

Whatever.

Even if North Korea had the technical expertise to mount their nukes onto ballistic missiles, the United States has an arsenal of thousands of nukes. There is simply no point in firing those weapons without a retaliation that would wipe North Korea off the face of the map.

Likely, this is a message meant to scare North Korean citizens into compliance with the central government that claims to protect them.
