Poll: Obama's Approval Higher Than Perry's In Texas

Poll: Obama's Approval Higher Than Perry's In Texas

A new poll commissioned by the Dallas Morning News shows President Obama’s approval rating three points higher than the state’s current Governor, Republican Rick Perry, after his failed run for the presidency. Obama’s approval is 43 percent, while Perry is at 40.

Obama’s disapproval rating is higher in the heavily Republican Texas — 47 percent don’t like the job he’s doing as President as opposed to the 40 percent who are disappointed in Perry.

“It’s clear it’s hurt him,” said Mark Jones, a Rice University political science professor said of Perry in the paper. “He’s been seen as a really savvy politician with an aura of invincibility, and all that’s been diminished.”

Looks like Perry's goofy campaign took a toll on his approval.

Perry has never really enjoyed a popular majority in Texas; the 2004 election was a three candidate race and Perry squeaked it out with less than 40%. He won the 2010 election against an extremely weak Dem candidate with a majority, but people really don't like him very much.

Good news Obama's approval is that high here but it would take a miracle for this state to go blue with the way Pukes have rigged redistricting.

implosion. He may recover, afterall it is Texas, but I don't see him be taken seriously after his debacle of a campaign.
