Just got back in from shoveling ...

It's 7 degrees out there. My fingers are numb. But, here I am, getting warmed up inside my comfortable house, bundled up with my cat. I am lucky.

So, I'm thinking of all of those who can't get out of the cold, for any reason, such as the work they do to support themselves and their families or just having no where to go. I'm just going to keep them in my thoughts this evening.

Today is pajama day, which means stay indoors, don't get dressed, keep bundled up in warm PJ's and comfy robe. (Sorry! No bunny slippers, at least not today. )

Books to read. A podcast or two to listen to. A movie this evening. And, of course, DU.

I left my car out. Only a trace of snow. But I will have to scrape a little tomorrow. Got my down coat ready.

Stay warm, my friend. From west Michigan, Manistee National Forest.

Good morning, campers!
It's cold outside!

I was just up in the Manistee National Forest this summer. Love that area!

You stay warm, too.

Oi! $3.60 a gallon! And me on SocSec and behind on property taxes.

But pajama days are great. I have a Swedish mystery novel (Henning Mankell's Wallander), podcasts, and movies. Spaghetti for dinner with homemade wine.

Pajama days are all about comfort and cuddling.

To PJ's!

Not enough snow for a snow thrower, but there's enough cold for a hockey tournament. Bring on the Zambonis!

Not even enough snow for snow mobiles, which are usually daily and nightly present this time of the year here in the national forest in Michigan. This year... Not one! And I would hear them. My unpaved road leads right into the forest trails, one mile south and to the east. It's kinda a snowmobile expressway here to the woods and my road goes no where else.

Not one this year. Not enough snow. Just traces so far.

Most of us have warmth and shelter, but we can't forget those that don't, thank you for bringing it up.

Visiting this couple of weeks from Iowa. When I arrived it was warm than it was down home. Now I think we're about even temperature -wise. We went last night to watch my grandson test for his orange belt in tai kwan do, and the wind made your skin burn. My husband called to let me know that we had gotten snow since I left.

near our rural lane. Someone's pet cat is missing. Most would consider those of us in my "neighborhood" as being rural hicks even though it is not that far from suburbia.

We've had cats that roam and hunt every day but never venture near country roads, and they come in every night, and they probably have the best possible cat life ever.

It is cold but no snow here yet, and I strongly sympathize with anyone who has lost their pet in such frigid weather.

We now have the best old Humane Society declawed cat in the world and just like child I couldn't imagine having him lost outside in this weather.

We've also had a handsome gold feral cat that we've fed for 6 years at least, that survives in the wild with coyote and makes such weather his home, and we've never been able to touch him.

you are correct, we need to remember those who do not have shelter in such weather. the response of the city where I live is just to chase the homeless away from their camps, with no alternative offered.
