Alex Jones, Guns, Piers Morgan – and My Penis

I decided to post this because there is a bit of information in it that I find very revealing. Throughout the gun threads I continually felt as if there were an undercurrent that was of crucial importance. One that explained more about who we are, than just the number of guns per capita. Perhaps it's wrong to use the phrase "mental health". But health and happiness are undeniably intertwined in this topic.

Palast has written another important editorial that you can read in it's entirety here-

http://www.gregpalast.com/alex-jones-guns-piers-morgan-and-my-penis/

"Of the 31,672 gun deaths in America in 2010, the majority – 61 percent – were suicides. The real killer is despair. Why such desperation? What in the American dream is so nightmarish that death is a better choice?"

"The true issue – the danger – Jones says, is not from our assault rifles, but from the assault on working people in Greece and in Manchester and in Toledo by a dangerous group of jackals whose weapons are the IMF, the Euro, JP Morgan, "austerity" and the "debt ceiling"."

In the overall view of things American, I am seeing both ends as being the guns, and the level of happiness with being American. I've seen the threads on just how low we score when it comes to health care, education, and just about anythiing relating to our own welfare. Juxtaposed against those are the numbers of people who act out in violence, whether against others or themselves. I'm trying to say that we're unhealthy. It seems to me that regardless of what we do about gun violence the problem still exists until we fix it. Affordable health care, a universally high quality education for everybody, economic equality, elections that are based in confidence, a ton of things. Only one facet is that of gun control. The other 99 are still just waiting.

One of the main problems is that we are, for better or worse, stuck with a House of Representatives that apparently wants to keep our nation's financial system exactly as it is.

That's why everyone was scratching their heads after Election Day. We voted for change, and we got more of the same. Some of the names are different, but the basic power structure remains unaltered.

If anyone were ever ready to change, and do it quickly, it's me. Very few people have had as many speeding tickets as me.

There is a mass in politics. That doesn't mean things can't change quickly. But as much as I like speed, I am certain Obama knows he has more to win than the hearts of us liberals.

And not only that, but this all didn't happen over night. There has been an apathy among Americans that has enabled the greedy to win.

So here we are. Sick and unhappy. A great country that has fallen short in so many ways.

"Why did Alex Jones – the host of one of the only intellectually substantive, fact-heavy forums on American radio – seem to lose it on air?"

I love Alex Jones. If I were a woman, I'd appear on his show in my highest heels and shortest mini-skirt.

I laughed until I cried. Then I just cried.

Palast has been a guest on Jones' show many times in the past decade. I suppose he felt a responsibility to try and scrape some of the layer of public crazy off Jones due to their history together.

Defending Alex Jones is nasty enough business without swearing your unabashed adoration of the fool. That the sort of thing many people might find hard to forget.
