I'm from Raleigh, and I went to that gun show this morning. There is no "storage" of guns here. What happens is you give your pistol over to a law enforcement officer, who is supposed to check that the gun is unloaded, and then uses a zip tie to secure the weapon and make sure it is unusable. CNN is reporting that three people were injured at the gun show in Raleigh, not two as originally reported. All were victims of a shotgun that fired while the owner was removing it from a case.

Steps when using a shotgun ..... remove shotgun from case, make sure

are ready to shoot ...... after you are done MAKE SURE THE SHOTGUN
IS EMPTY .... IN MY CASE IT IS A PUMP ACTION SO I PUMP IT AT LEAST

shotgun back into its case ...... when you get home make sure to dry off

Public places can be rented in some cases, and if access is free and requiring a permit, I don't see any reason why a gun show is different than anything else. I think you're picking the wrong battle there - maybe you just don't want gun shows (I'm not even completely certain what a gun show entails, to be honest).
