Remembering a gun incident from my childhood

When I was about 10 in 1956 my dad use to take me to the local bar with him. This was in Dayton OH. The owner didn't mind back then. My dad would get a draft beer and I would get orange crush.
So in comes this guy and he sits at the bar and promptly pulls out his pistol and sets it on the bar in front of himself. The bar owner told him that we don't do that here. The guy was visiting from Hazard KY where he said that's what they do there.
The gun debate made me remember that for what it's worth.
