An Inconvenient Truth For The GOP: Pres. Bush Wanted To Extend The Assault Weapons Ban

President Bush - in a debate with Senator Kerry on October 13, 2004.

Q [From Bob Schieffer]: You said if Congress would vote to extend the ban on assault weapons, that you’d sign the legislation, but you did nothing to encourage Congress to extend it.

BUSH: I did think we ought to extend the assault weapons ban and was told the bill was never going to move. I believe law-abiding citizens ought to be able to own a gun. I believe in background checks. The best way to protect our citizens from guns is to prosecute those who commit crimes with guns.

Now, I don't know about you, but to me, that sounds like a radical left-winger who wants to get rid of the Second Amendment.

Let's share this info with our right-wing friends to point out their HYPOCRISY!
