I need clarification about Obama's Executive Order:

WHAT EXACTLY is it that he signed?

I'm looking for vid but it's not up on WH Gov but it's not up yet.

I'm confused if he signed an Order or just the proposal.

5. Thanks -- I guess I need to bone up on what "Executive Order" means.

I thought it meant "I've done this, nothing anybody can do".


I'm still confused as to if he needs every one of these items voted on in order to get them implemented.

As it stands now, has anything actuallly changed?

(I should be embarrassed at my inability to grasp this, I know.

6. Obama cannot create a law by himself. President proposes, Congress disposes

He can order federal agencies to do what his executive orders declare...Notice there is nothing there about a gun grab????

People need to chill out. He is not coming for my guns, he never was and won't. If I thought so, I would have bought land in Idaho with the other goobers by now.

I was never concerned about a gun grab, personally. I'm not a gun owner but support those who are, but I really don't think their rights will be infringed upon (granted, easy for me to say seeing as how I wouldn't be affected). If for no other reason that politics -- too many people in both parties WOULD rise up if the Feds came knocking on their doors demanding they hand over certain types of weapons.

We need to get these measures implemented ASAP so people will KNOW their rights are intact.

9. So Congress passes laws, but they tend to be vague

They instruct the Executive branch to accomplish objective X at cost Y given parameter Z.

A whole lot of the President's job is coming up with the actual implementation of those laws, and Executive Orders are a big part of that.

as President he can order agencies under his executive control to do things where the agencies have authority to write and implement regulations.
