Some quiet proof of how far gays have come

On the eve of the March on Washington in 1963, Baynard Rustin, a chief strategist of the Civil Rights movement was forced to disappear. His gayness was considered the kiss of death for the movement. Fast forward to today. Meet Mark Glaze. He is the chief strategist, and to the extent that anyone involved in a Bloomberg funded enterprise who isn't Bloomberg can be the public face of that enterprise, he is the public face of mayors against illegal guns. He is also openly gay. This may not be the first time, but it is the first time I can think of, that a gay person has been the public face of a movement that wasn't about gay rights.
