You've got to appreciate the sheer fucking nerve of Congressional Republicans…

THEY run up the bills, voting for deficit exploding wars, tax cuts and all kinds of corporate welfare.

THEY refuse to raise the revenue to pay those bills.

THEY threaten the full faith and credit of the United States by threatening to politicize the raising of the Debt Ceiling in order to create leverage against the President.

Then…

THEY have the temerity to blame the President for causing the problem.

THEY are SCUM.

They are completely consistent. They send money to their friends they steal from the people in the way of deficits they run up. They never had any intention of paying for the wars.

Their subsidies, tax breaks for the rich, etc. were exactly the same thing. Their overpriced RX program made their friends wealthy. The contracts for going to war made their friends richer than anyone has ever been. Their theft from veterans, homeowners, the poor, the disabled, the elderly - all of that went to their friends.

Democrats are foolish in this way. A party that believes all people are equal and deserve equal treatment, don't disenfranchise voters to continue the theft; don't discriminate to keep wages low; steal the parks, the schools, the jobs, the very roads, don't do half the things that the GOP are doing today as they have for years.

They are thieves and their greed knows no bounds. They have invented a religion, taken from Ayn Rand and a perverted christianity, that says they are better, superior, deserve more. This flies completely in the face of what Democrats and those who are seeking to better their lives depend on, believe in, must have to live.

They don't care if we live. Any party that advocates constant warfare for nefarious reasons, lies all the time without considering the cost, does not respect the living. No matter how many unpaid for unborns they wave to cover their sin, they hate the living.

The sooner Democrats and others get it through their thick heads that the GOP is not having a temporary aberration, not suffering from stupidity or senility, the sooner we will tackle the problem. Our outrage is music to their ears, they consider it the mewling of the weak.

They only understand one thing, and that is being swept out of office. Everything else is just more fun for their media to make even more money off of. Nothing else,

And in the process, at some point in time, (you know how lazy they are, never worked a day in their lives, not even in Congress) they just didn't snap out of their constituents realm. Look at this:

Besides, Congress is the only branch that passes the budget, Congress is the final arbiter of what gets paid for, the President doesn't have a line item to veto to rein in Congressional Spending.

Why has raising the debt ceiling only become an issue while Obama is president? It never has been before.

I have qoted that the Wars and tax cuts were the problem and the cause of the deficts but they counter that the war in Iraq is over 2 years ago and the war in Afghanistan has been scaled back so where are the deficit savings of those wars? The new theme on taxes is that Obama extended them in 2010 and now has the new Obama tax rates in 2013 so can't be blaming any deficits caused by tax rates on Bush anymore so where are the deficits reductions due to these things?

30. I had this discussion at my job...
Mon Jan 7, 2013, 09:32 PM
Jan 2013

I work with a large group of teabaggers and I find myself in many discussion about the debt. Their position on the debt was yes Bush was a terrible spender, but Obama is much worse...

I ask them how do they figure because Obama hasn't increased spending all that much and they counter with Obama is using the 2009 baseline of spending which was by all accounts only authorized because of the sheer magnitude of the Recession.

They claim that Obama using that baseline which was a 20 percent increase in spending is like saying we are using that level of emergency spending for every year since the Recession started. Then they point to the 6 Trillion added to the national debt in the last 4 years and the 1+ trillion deficits every year when no President prior ever ran Trillion dollar per year deficits.

I always counter with the wars which weren't paid for and now they hit me with well Obama ended the War in Iraq 2 years ago if it was true that Iraq was the cause of deficits where are the reductions in the deficit due to the end of the war?

They always tell me to go to usdebtclock.org and really see what is going on especially with the unfunded future liabilities portion of the debt...

Now all that said, I try to convince them that there are much better alternatives to decreasing the debt then by cutting the programs...

I really think our side should champion a

VAT
and/or
a transaction tax on bank transactions and wall street trading and transaction.

Those two things alone would pay off the debt....

The bottom line is that the debt is real, how we got here will soon be a moot issue if nothing is done about it, you must certainly agree that the trajectory is unsustainable, right?

Obama could easily give a complete one year tax holiday to everyone making 50K and below... Complete coverage in the Affordable care act subsidized by government for those making below 25K and subsidized on a progressive scale up to 80K...progressively subsidized loans for green energy vehicles for households making 50K and below... i.e., must buy approved electric or hybrid and the subsidy would be applied by the dealer based on the ability of the family to pay i.e.... Family of four making 30K total income would be subsidized 75 percent of the cost so a 40K hybrid would run them 10K ... etc... All of this to be paid for by increasing taxes by 10 percent on those making 100K and over....

He becomes the tax cutter of the poor and anyone voting against it would be seen as calous and mean, besides it would definately jump start the economy of course it would cost nearly a trillion to do all this but it would easily be recouped by the tax increases and the booming economy would provide more revenue to the government to pay it back...
