He recently took out Russian citizenship because French taxes on the rich were too high (for him). Putin personally granted him citizenship and gave him a passport.

In the second cartoon, Depardieu is the dancing bear. I have no idea who the woman is, except perhaps it might be Brigitte Bardot, who also recently said French taxes are too high and is mulling over the idea of following Depardieu's example -- hence Putin "wooing" her. She is active in causes (Nepalese babies?).

The one with Depardieu carrying a pig refers to the Asterix et Obelix cartoon books (graphic novels long before there were "graphic novels&quot . Depardieu has dined high off the hog and gained weight over time. He played Obelix in the movie based on the cartoons.

If I could afford it.

Of course, I'd also move to Finland which is just next door to Karelia,

It isn't about Russia...I just find the countryside in that part of the world beautiful.
