http://www.wbur.org/2013/01/05/warrenBOSTON U. S. Senator Elizabeth Warren held a reception and ceremonial swearing-in this afternoon at Roxbury Community College.
The Bay States first female senator was officially sworn-in Thursday in Washington D. C. by Vice President Joe Biden. Todays event was billed as an opportunity for constituents who were unable to attend that ceremony to share the occasion.
Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan performed the ceremony. Afterwards, Warren outlined her agenda in a speech.
Our country will have some tough debates over the next few months about the deficit, the debt ceiling, and spending cuts. Ill support cuts. But we start with big agriculture and big oil, not with social security.
Retired Congressman Barney Frank was on hand, as well as Senator John Kerry, who welcomed Warren into the Senate, saying she would bring to her duties the common sense, the comity, the passion, and the caring about the things that really make a difference.
Go Senator Warren.
As reported by the Boston Herald, more people were there;
T
he ceremony held in the schools packed auditorium featured a slew of heavy-hitting politicians, among them Kerry, Gov. Deval Patrick, newly retired Congressman Barney Frank and high-ranking state officials such as Attorney General Martha Coakley. Besides Kerry, who would leave the Senate upon being confirmed as Secretary of State, and those seeking his seat Congressman Edward Markey the crowd also featured those rumored to be considering a run in Congressman Michael Capuano and state Sen. Ben Downing.

Thank you for sharing. Scott Brown voted against Kagan's confirmation to the SCOTUS and I love the concept of Kagan getting to swear Senator Warren in (even though it was not the official swearing in)
