We are finally connected back to the internet... Moved...WHAT a PAIN in the _ _ _

So... the day I disconnected from the net we moved the majority of our stuff. Landlord believed columbia gas was going to establish the connection to the house on the 31st. And we decided to move early because the old place was making a lot of noise LIKE the floor was about to cave in and so we decided to move into the new place and deal with a high electric bill.

We move in and half the apartment (really we have the whole first floor of a 1920s house.) is freezing cold. My wife and I after paying people to move us and tipping them with a pizza dinner run out and buy a space heater to help warm us thinking half of the electric vents will eventually warm up since we put them on. By morning with additional 2-5 inches falling we go get breakfast (hungry and no food in the house) I get ahold of my boss tell him how we don't have heat and can we possibly have a hotel room for at least the night. He let us use the hotel for the weekend which is good because second night --sunday when we came back to the to check on the kitties who stayed in the warm half of the apartment we found we lost power in half the half.

New Landlord is on Christmas vaction and we felt bad calling but we call asking if he can give us an idea of where the fuse box was which he kindly got back to us about quickly. We also told him about how cold half the apartment was and it dawns on him that when he and his crew laid the duct work for the gas heat vents they had to disconnect the electric vents. He apologized but remind us that Columbia Gas was suppose to be there on the 31st (Monday) to finish tapping that line and getting everything ready so that we can get the heat on soon.

We went up to my mother in law's house (The big- ego- control freak) we stay there that night No work done. New years didn't expect nothing to be done. NEXT DAY wife call Columbia Gas she is told emergency happened on 31st they would get it in 2nd. Nothing happened... Wife called day after day and wife called and she is given a song and dance. BY friday my wife is having a nervous breakdown so upset she is crying. She is tired of being at her mom's who doesn't realize she is going deaf or doesn't care. She sleeps with the TV on all night (Most of my wife family does except for her) The tv is on loud and wakes my wife. Wife hasn't had a good night sleep all week nor is her sinus doing any good since she is senative to her mother's smoking.

Columbia Gas basically told us screw you we will get it in on Monday. My wife is calling the PUC (Pulbic Utilities Commission) on Monday.

I called the Landlord who pissed at Columbia Gas as we are. He calls his one handyman to see if they can get the electric vents going. He manage to at least get heat in the master bedroom and we cranked up the vents in the room that do work. It isn't perfect but by today my wife and I can get in here and actually function. We are slowly getting unpacked and connected to the net.

My wife and I figured columbia gas has cost us an additional $250 - $500 dollars on top of all the moving expenses.

Just a little update

I did that once when I had a problem with a telephone pole that had been blown into a precarious position, and the phone company said it was the power company's problem, and the electric company said it was the phone company's problem.

After calling my councilman, it was fixed the next day.

Moving is always a pain, but it is ridiculous that you are getting screwed over in such a way.

Hopefully the next week will go a little better.
