The Republican crusade for "spending cuts"...

These are the big, fat daddios...

They want to cut Medicare and Social Security. They want to destroy these New Deal programs. It is a long-time dream of the right-wing.

But the truth is like a starship, barely visible to the naked eye. But each day, it gets closer and we begin to see its form.

The truth is that the Republican Party took a balanced budget and spent $4 trillion dollars on tax cuts, another $8 trillion on defense and wars and flat-out refused to pay for a penny of their spending. Then they whine about raising taxing for the first time in 20 years. Are you beginning to see the truth?

We cannot continue to run these huge deficits that the Republicans created. We must cut SS and Medicare. Otherwise, they will crash this government by holding the debt limit hostage. These are the people we are dealing with. They are not rational.

And they may be willing to shut down the government until they get their way?

A low level Republican operative named Jude Wanniski formulated a theory he called Two Santa Claus. That's where we got "supply-side economics," starve be beast, trickle down, and all of the other disk formation they have inflicted.

Its not working, that's why Grover's been on TV so much recently. He's usually stayed in the shadows. But now he knows his chance is slipping away.

For the plan to work, the American people have to actively support cutting those programs because they fear the debt so much more. But so far they don't.

And its not that the debt doesn't matter, it does. But it can't become scarier than losing those programs in the mind of the average American.
