Bernie Sanders: Cautiously Optimistic

Cautiously Optimistic

Sen. Bernie Sanders on Saturday sized up eleventh-hour negotiations on a measure to keep taxes from going up for working families and to help the long-term unemployed. “I think we have a reasonable chance to get a short-term fix through the Senate,” Sanders said on MSNBC. “You probably can prevent the tax hike for 98 percent of the American people, and deal with the crisis of 2 million American workers losing their unemployment benefits and other short-term issues,” he added, “so I am cautiously optimistic we can get something through the Senate.”

I'm glad somebody was there to speak for us during this fake budget emergency.

and then again yesterday.

I posted yesterday that Obama led with his best offer last year. Boehner misread that,of course, as meaning he could get more out of him. Instead, that offer was rescinded and each subsequent offer has been smaller. Each time an offer has been turned down it has not been re-extended.

This man has had this planned out step by step since before last summer. A player who leads with his strongest suit knows exactly what he's doing and how the game will be played. He is in charge of it from beginning to end.

It reminds me of a certain way I played Spades. If I got a hand full of high Spades, I'd lead with the Ace then go on down one by one, ridding everyone else of their trump cards. My partner was almost crying opposite me. But I always won and I loved every second because I was in control. And there was nothing anyone could do to stop me.

Are you enjoying this as much as I am?

What will Boehner do when it gets to him? That is the real question, the career and/or party busting question, if you will.

I do love politics, it's moments like this when I recall why exactly.
