A deal which is guaranteed to be bad.
The middle class does not make $280,000 a year. Most of the middle class does not even make $80,000 a year.

(25,026 posts)It is cool to see one of the cooling saucer class actually out applying pressure to dumpsterfires to do their jobs rather than a Sherman's March of Gremlinhood and shitting in the bed. You gotta admit it is more than most.
Still, no question there is nothing that is a deal for us to be had and that we are getting austerity no matter what, no matter how stupid it is.
Folks talk about chess all the time but as far as I can tell, we are in check. We can dance around and avoid being mated for a bit, maybe grab a piece on occasion but the game is over, we can't win because our strategy was to concede pieces and maybe get them to give up a few and come together as one.
Which is not a part of the game. It either takes some real buy in from the opposition or a willingness to flip the board to change the game. You aren't going to start out playing chess and subtly but surely transform it to a cooperative D&D type thing before the set is over. Not gonna happen.

(37,573 posts)because even flipping the board is not gonna change the game.
But it would be nice if we were even TRYING to win.
If "our" supposed side actually opposed tax cuts for the rich, and argued FOR investment over austerity. Instead of apparently agreeing with the "other" supposed side that "tax cuts are good, and austerity is necessary".
But admittedly I have sort of a personal grudge against Harkin too, because I donated to the Fallon campaign to defeat Boswel (in the primary)l and Harkin came out in support of Boswell.
