Obama is laying it all out there

He looks and sounds pissed off while he's talking about the meeting that happened between him and the repukes. He's saying things like "they are not getting things done", etc. All I can say is TELL IT LIKE IT IS President Obama! Kick some repuke ass all over America.

but this is only the beginning. I have a feeling that once this crisis has calmed down, knowing those rethugs there's gonna be another shit-stirring plot to unnerve President Obama (vis-a-vis piss him off even more) and the rest of us down the road. So, stock up like crazy on popcorn because the war has just begun!

Happy New Year!

President Obama's deal re-set to the his previous position ... preserving the tax cuts for those under $250K, U/C extension and remove the debt limit from the table. SS was not mentioned because the gop walked away from that deal.

so long as, in our divided government, your opposition wants something on the table, it is on the table.

imagine you are planning (negotiating) an evening out with your significant other. You want a Dinner and a movie; he/she really wants a Happy hour and appetizers. You don't mind the appetizers because you want to eat, but you don't want the Happy-hour because he/she is likely to get drunk. How far do you think you're gonna get towards the date, if you state "we can eat but Happy Hour is off the table"?

First, because no one knowingly chooses to associate with a rapist;
secondly, once the person has been exposed as a rapist, no one would choose to continue associating with the rapist;
finally, if rape appears inevitable, people ABSOLUTELY negotiate with the rapist, if by nothing more than saying "No, don't" or "lease don't kill me."

and our side can't negotiate for shit. If they wanted to sell something for $100, the would open the bidding there and let republicans talk them down to $70. This is why we got a crappy mandate instead of public option.

We got the crappy mandate rather than a public option because too many Democrats in congress wouldn't have supported the ublic option. It had nothing to do with negotiating skills.

The debate should have started at single payer, but it started at PO. When you start haggling at you ultimate goal, you are never going to get it. Sadly, too many democrats are either too stupid or too complicit.

On edit: I lean toward the "too complicit" theory. Our party is republican light.

The deal they are calling the fiscal cliff has already been made. It should simply be allowed to go into effect if the Republicans insist on cutting the budget.

We should not even be discussing alternatives to that deal. It is done. And it does not include cuts to Social Security, and Medicare and possibly also not to veterans' benefits, etc.

I think we should just go over the cliff.

The tax rates would return to the rates that we all paid during the Clinton years. The economy was good at that time. I think we should try it.

negotiation is necessary ... for just the reason yougive for it not being necessary. If there is no deal we go over the cliff ... and 2 million plus people lose U/C, $65 Billion get cut from federal programs that support the elderly, poor, disabled and veterans. This losses, unlike any tax cut expiring can't be retro-actively adjusted; they are perminent and immediate losses for those that can least afford it.

The advantage we, outside of governance, have is we can ignore/not look at/not know about the 360 of the issue in front of us ... our legislators, and especially President Obama, do not have that luxury.

I'd like to see any Republican, (and some Democratic) members of Congress, House or Senate, be homeless for a month, be hungry for a day, or have no health insurance for their family for a few minutes. First thing that should happen when Congress doesn't agree on a budget: they don't get paid, can't use their health insurance card, and can't go home because their home would have been sold-out from under them to start to pay off the national debt.

hovering over the start button. President Obama is the cat and republicans are the mouse. The President has worked those assholes into a complete bind for them. Republicans won't be able to escape without them suffering pain, and that pleases me because they are treasonous bastards.
