Still not over the May 6th halt of operations. I am sure you can understand my lingering anger.

The ferries that make the Hatteras Inlet run are relatively small and unstable. Wouldn't take much to knock one over in which case you'd have a mass casualty event and a helluva mess to clean up.

I get the lingering anger but you should work through the anger. The 'scenic' route was still available, where you could spend a few hours more through some of the most desolate land on the East Coast to get down to Swan Quarter.

Why do people object to a tunnel? Cost? Environmental concerns? What's the problem?

BTW, I'm assuming you're stuck on one side. Do you need help? How long do they expect this to last?

If they don't do something about it, Ocracoke will be the next Portsmouth, NC.

Took my daughter there on an excursion. A Tunnel wouldn't be the same and there isn't enough traffic to justify it.
Unless things have changed, NC doesn't charge for their Ferry service.

Without a tunnel the place is too damn difficult to get to.

Especially when shoals fuck up the channel.

Pirates are always clogging those channels.

I don't go to the Outer Banks anymore. I attract a hurricane every time. Sinks yet another pirate ship.

Difficult for the British navy to chase him in those waters.

But it is close to where the Mirlo went down so maybe some ghosts of its sailors pitched a fit at a beach being named for their ship.

It will take along time to dredge the cannel properly but it won't take long to get it back to where it can be used plus there is more than one way to get to Ocracoke from Hatteras than the ferry channel. There are a number of slots you can run out to the west and there is deep enough water out there to turn south and come back into Silver Lake. I've done it several times; there's ten or twelve feet of water out there.

Dredging one is an unpleasant task, but sonnetimes necessary. Then you have to deal with a whole bunch of cannel-doo.

It's nothing personal.

I just have a Pavlovian response to it.

I have no self-control.

Please accept my apology.
