My rant.

We had an election and the democrats won by saying they will do certain things
but the day after the election it was "fiscal cliff 24/7" almost like we did not have an
election at all. Social Security (which hasn't added one dime to the debt), medicare,
and medicaid all have stimulative effects on the economy because those dollars are
spent PDQ and those dollars roll over many times too ..... but if you contract those
programs then the economy will slow down and it might fall back into a recession
.... and that might be exactly what the republicans want.

According to the LA Times McConnell and Boner have any sort of bill tied up.

They would make a hefty profit if they crashed the dollar, but had already moved their investments into Gold. (Which a lot of them have). The profit from the housing collapse wasn't enough, now they are going to collapse the dollar. Which would mean the US would have to find some way to repay our foreign debts... I think they are going to use all the property that the Federal Reserve now owns due to the latest round of Q3 and Q4 easing,

They know that most people have NO idea how congress really "works", and the media is always saying shit like "Both sides are to blame", so republicans know that as long as they can gerrymander their way into a permanent majority in the house every two years they can effectively stymie any democratic president..

Once they get back to the default position (republican rule in all branches) they will start to pass legislation again.

By then, their forced austerity (only forced onto democratic presidents) there should once again be some money in the coffers ...for them to squander...

14. U.R. not kidding about the Gerrymandering

Ohio went solid for President Obama and Sen. Brown statewide but
only 4 out of the 16 Congressional races went to Democrats ...... where
I live "they" drew the district so that my neighbor and former Congress=
critter Mary Jo Kilroy's home was no longer in the new drawn Congressional
district.

Time and demographics are brutally against the republicans and they are
using every trick in the book to stay in power.

15. They want to bring back the aristocracy

They're toadies for big money. They turn the middle class and lower class against themselves with these "moral" wedge issues so that we can't unite in our best, self-preserving interests. Meanwhile, they let the rich keep more and more of their wealth, let corporations get more and more powerful... Big Money wants to own everything. That's their version of Manifest Destiny. They want to own every natural resource, they want to monopolize every aspect of culture and manufacturing, they want everyone working for them at slave wages. Because, you know, power. There's no other point in amassing so much money, more money than they could ever spend. It's just a score card to them, and it equates to power. They want to be the ones that save us from ourselves (i.e., our representative democracy), and they want us to owe them. Maybe they'll be benevolent once they've won, but I doubt it.
