3 officers shot at New Jersey police station

Three police officers were shot early Friday at the Gloucester Township Police station in New Jersey, according to a local NBC News station.
One of the officers is in surgery, and the other two are in the hospital with minor injuries, reported NBC10, NBC's Philadelphia affiliate.
The gunman is reportedly not associated with the police department. It is unclear if a suspect is in custody.
Gloucester is in central New Jersey, about 15 miles outside Philadelphia.

In addition, they could put their hands on different types of weapons if needed.

In a school, there would be chaos with guns galore and nobody with a clue. If there is no basic plan, you have everybody doing whatever comes to mind.

from one of the cops. So he was unarmed until he ran into someone armed.

Just saying.

Police don't have to teach - they are very conscious of protecting their fire arms less they be grabbed and used against them - and still it happens from time to time.

He took a gun from a cop and opened fire.

Gee, I wonder how much harder it is to get a gun from a cop than a teacher.

there would probably not have been a shooting, since the dead gunman was able to get his gun from an armed and trained policeman.

Another instance where the presence of guns leads to death and mayhem.

"A violent struggle occurred while the suspect was being processed," Deputy Chief David Harkins said. The man was able to grab a gun and then opened fire."

So maybe we need to ban eggs in Bosnia now.

kept by presumably well trained police, and he was somehow able to get a gun away from one of the armed police and then shoot three people.

I can't imagine the average teacher will be better trained around weapons than your average cop. So what are the chances, then, that we'd be seeing incidents like this in schools, involving kids getting their hands on guns they otherwise wouldn't have available to them? Resulting in more people dead and injured?

Just another reason why expecting teachers to be armed is a stupid idea.

Somehow I don't feel very safe anymore. But I'm sure not running out to get a gun. It would probably be taken away from me (I'm 64 years old) and used against me.

He was under arrest for domestic violence and managed to grab one of the cops' guns. They responded by shooting him dead.

Good.
