Cleaning company hired by Walker Admin. is fired for damaging state Capitol
by Giles Goat Boy

The Wisconsin State Journal reported over the weekend that a private company hired by the Scott Walker administration to provide janitorial services in the state capitol building has been fired - for damaging the expensive marble floors in the building.

State officials have fired a cleaning company they believe may have damaged or stained marble floors in the Capitol, said Wisconsin Department of Administration spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis.

The damage appears to have occurred when a cleaning solution or other liquid leaked from a floor-scrubbing machine operated by the contractor, Marquis said.

Prior to the Walker administration, cleaning of the capitol facilities was performed by unionized state employees with years of expertise in cleaning and maintaining the unusual and delicate stones.

and more interesting stuff about WHO this company was here:

a tourist destination. even when we lived in Freeport in the mid 80's.. when IL sucked. I'm not a big fan of IL in certain parts. although western IL.. mostly along the river.. love the area.

and then be surprised when it goes badly? Not me.

Yep, turns out all that "featherbedding" and "malingering" by unions is actually "specialization", "job knowledge" and actual "doing the job right." Who knew???

Well, okay, millions of union members like me knew, but I mean, who else? No one could have...

Walker is nothing but bad news. He's a hero to right-wing assholes across the land because he's a lying corrupt tea-bagger bastard. His ambitions far exceed his skills.

you get what you pay for. When you hire non-union to do a job where expertise and education is needed, you will end up paying more in the long run because of the mess they make of the job. I know many who have hired non-union electricians and plumbers to work on their homes and ended up with really expensive consequences.

I wish there were a vehicle by which class-action lawsuits could be filed in situations like this to compensate the people for the destruction of their property. That floor belongs to the citizens of Wisconsin, not Scott Walker. It was damaged as a result of his willful neglect or unprofessional judgement; is it too much to ask that a State's Governor be held to the same standard of competence as an auto mechanic or a barber?

The repubs complained about the $7 million in damage done by the tape holding the signs to the walls. Turns out they were using residue-free tape made for walls like that. The total cost of repair was minimal.

Along comes this jerk and wrecks our beautiful building.

I was there and saw all the 'blue tape' (painter's tape) used to put up signs. No damage. The main damage was from us 'on the lawn', even though it was snow-covered.

What an ass. This should (and probably won't) get coverage. But the Repubs don't want to hear about the misdeeds of their Snotty.

The only significant damage to the floors was from electrical tape used by television crews to tape down their cables.

Damage to floors caused by Fox News? Yes.
Damage to floors caused by cheap, non-union cleaning service? Yes.
Damage to floors caused by tens of thousands of pro-Labor demonstrators? Nope.

look like 'uncouth thugs'. So little does Walker know about his 'home' state, he didn't realize that some of us RESPECT the capitol building, and would never befoul it, like he does.
