instead of everybody bitching and moaning at each other about the G word, maybe instead we could

send our wild and varied theories and insights, in an easily readable fashion, to the people who actually WANT to hear someone's opinion and are going to make the laws. this being a democratic forum and all.

i don't know how many peeps are riding in this rattletrap fun buggy called the DU, but i'm sure there are enough to make an impression.

here's the real test though- nobody can comment on any other member's post.

my idea is-
Joe Biden is in charge of the gun thing. they are gathering ideas. there are some people here who have more than a few.

EVERYBODY on this site is welcome to post a letter from themselves to Uncle Joe.

since the letter is intended for the Vice President, please do not comment on anyone else's thing. just imagine that!

U R such a F******D!!!! ha ha ha ur letter sux!!!

none of that, please, that would be embarassing.

all i've heard so far about a schedule is "no later than january", so there's time to do something.

sending them in on paper might be a good idea, we'll figure that out

so just type Mr. Vice President and roll with it. try to keep it short if you can. it would be an interesting read, i think people will be a little more comfortable if they know they aren't going to called names, and lots of ideas will be consolidated into one area.

describe yourself if you want, no names of course, identify a problem or 3, offer your ideas for a solution, i think anecdotes pro or con are at least as important as opinions- it saved my life, i've never used it, my neighbor's scares me.

go for it

and to attempt to get primary challengers for any/all in 2014 democrats who are pro-gun.
Their being scared of the NRA days are over.

We need to find a good anti-gun candidate to finance and beat the pro-gun one.

This more than anything can get change wthin 6 year cycle of everyone being up for election house and senate.

So this is the one idea that can work.

Sure a bill will get through getting us the first 10% movement forward
but after that, we need to keep working to make it better

Mike Bloomberg's way on guns is the correct way(and any other issue some have with him is irrelevant to the gun issue).

did you cc uncle joe? what are some basic details of your take on this?

check this out (nra site faq)- and what kind of question is that? "i'm too dumb to think help me i'm scared of laws"?

9. Shouldn`t we at least try some gun control to see if it works?
We have. Over the past century, all types of gun control laws have been implemented in different parts of the United States. Everything from purchase restrictions to complete gun bans has been tried. These laws have not worked, and in some cases have had the opposite effect from what was intended.

Some big cities have strict gun laws. New York City has very strict gun laws, more strict than the rest of the state of New York. In spite of this, New York has always had significantly higher violent crime rates. Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Ill. have banned the ownership of handguns, and both these cities have much higher violent crime rates than the surrounding areas.

States such as Illinois and New York have gun owner licensing. Other states, such as Hawaii, have gun registration. However, none of these laws led to reductions in violent crime rates. And that is the real test of gun control laws. Do crime rates fall after gun laws are passed? The clear answer is no. Gun control has been tested, and it has failed the test.

have you EVER seen such a load of HORSESHIT???

a major part of the problem is that people will read that and believe it. shoudn't that be illegal somehow?
3 short paragraphs, don't try to think, not a single number, case closed?

could it be possible that those cities have so much crime because there are too many guns, hence the ban?
