They are both college students. I want them to raise their children in a safe country. These last few months, aside from the Obama victory, have been so depressing.
Between personal losses, the damage to my community from Hurricane Sandy and the predictable republican response to the residents of NY & NJ,along with climate change denial, the Sandy Hook tragedy and the rush to buy more more more ammo and assault weapons...
I just don't see how things get better. This country is just too freaking stupid.
Any one have any good news?

But maybe we should work together to bring sanity back to the US. Maybe your kids can be a part of that.

(2,736 posts)My mother was born in Finland, I told my 24 yo son I would pay for a round trip to Helsinki for the upcoming summer to visit some relatives there and a chance to take a good, hard look to see if that was something he could feature as a future. He's thinking it over. BTW, this has nothing to do with "gun nuts"

(20,006 posts)I considered Canada or Europe about 35 years ago but immigration information wasn't very accessible at the time. The libraries I checked didn't have much and I gave up on the idea. Then I got older and less desirable per immigration policies.
The U.S. needs a new constitution but that won't happen. A constitutional convention of today's Koch-sucking politicos would likely produce a corrupt, special interest, human disaster anyway.
I could have really used this site 35 years ago: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index-can.asp
