today he ended his show wishing everyone "a Merry Christmas or a Merry War on Christmas, whichever you prefer". Loved it!
Plus, the rest of the show was great too. He's so well informed. It's great to see a journalist know how to answer stupid and incorrect arguments and actually do it. He's the smartest guy on TV. IMHO.

(2,404 posts)Chris' show is one of the best of its kind on television. I never miss it. It is great to see someone that does his homework and knows how to conduct a discussion. Whenever there is some aspect of politics that I don't understand, I am sure to get the best explanation from his show.

(2,679 posts)Both the Sat and Sunday show and when he pops in during the week.
One of the oddest things is my brain and its train of thought. See on his show they always have this big plate of pastries. I get a kick out of watching his guests eye the sweets. A few weeks ago one lady (I forget who) was really eying them. Then when they came back from break there were pastries missing.

(63,912 posts)They're not there for props. Might as well take a bite if you are finished with what you needed to say for the time being. Enough time to chew and swallow and get ready for th next go round.
I must say, it's a pretty fast paced show. You gotta be on your feet for this one!
No wonder the usual gasbags don't go on UP. they can't keep it UP!

(15,412 posts)I think that's because I'm used to multitasking during shows like that...surf the web, playing solitaire...I've learned to stop all that and pay attention!
As to MHP, she's good on a couple of issues and was great this weekend while Joy was substituting. But if your focus is not race issues, or women's issues or education, I don't think Melissa speaks to me.
Yes, I know, I should be more interested in those subjects but sometimes I'm just not.

(17,600 posts)and he's pretty good at letting them talk but nudging the discussion in productive ways. I think he is hands-down the best talk show host I've seen in those aspects.
Every once in awhile he loses control and two guests will be talking over one another. It's such a contrast to the rest of the show, when that happens, that it annoys the heck out of me, but then I remember that I am being critical at a whole different level than I would be with any other show.
