And so it begins: NY Times, WA PO Politics page have multiple pro-NRA but no gun control headlines.

On my homepage, I have a link to the Washington Post, with the Politics page headlines, and a breaking news link from the NY Times. Here are the headlines about the gun control discussion:

Washington Post:
*Wayne La Pierre: Gun control 'not going to make any kid safer'
*Tim Scott on NRA plan: Shouldn't be a 'rush to judgment'
*NRA's Asa Hutchinson: Gun control is not the answer

NY Times:
*"N.R.A. Leaders Take Defiant Stance in TV Appearances"

That's 4 headlines that push the NRA talking points. The reason for those 4 headlines is that the Sunday morning shows had an army of NRA spokespeople pushing their agendas.

There are no opposing headlines, no headlines about the need for gun control.

The discussion has officially been hijacked, the NRA has taken it over, and will now mold it the way they want it.

We need to write to each of these news outlets, in addition to each of the Sunday morning shows that gave voice to the NRA, and let them know that this is not acceptable.

so. The NRAs position is temporarily weakened if the Democrats will take advantage.

Don't rely on the NY Times to be anything but a conduit to the Wall St financiers who add nothing to the economy

pipeline; unequal distribution of wealth, and a host of others.
Gun killing tops the list for me right now - we need a legislative fix.

When the NRA told Gregory they were coming on to sell this. I knew this was it. I firmly believe MTP has no control on who comes on the show. They are told. It's a shame. They know this touched a lot of us and it would take more than the usual statements, they need all the media behind them. And a big interview on MTP. They will do articles on how Gregory grilled him, but let's face it, he was able to get his message across. It's all theater.

They appear to be reporting on what these people said, today, in their televised interviews.

The NYT has been scathing in their coverage and editorials so far and I expect that if one reads the actual article and not just the headline one would find a lot more than NRA talking points therein.

Unlike DU these papers have to have headlines that include things other than 'FUCK THE NRA !!!'

I totally get what you're saying now...they ARE in the pockets of the NRA.

Thank you for your diligence; keep up the good work.

when pointing out the headlines in those rags is that they are both owned by Rupert Murderock. So given that point, would you really expect anything else?

And MTP is owned by NBC which is owned by GE... one the nation's biggest war machine contractors in US history.

Go figure.

I had the names mixed up! Thanks for the corrections. I was thinking of the Murdoch papers... I don't get to read any of them unless I look for them online, they rarely cover issues in my neck of the woods so I usually don't bother. My apologies to those papers named in the OP.
