They don't want guns. They do not want to be armed.

Yesterday I spent the day where my daughter teaches.
She is an elementary school teacher and asked me to come down for the day to help the kids finish up their Christmas presents for their parents.

Being the last full day of school, they had a potluck in the teacher's lounge.

And the discussion did turn to Newtown. They do not want guns. They do not want to be armed.
They don't want to be having one of those days where everything is going wrong & realize that they forgot to lock up their gun.
They don't understand how having a locked up gun would help them if a murderer barges into their classroom & they have to go unlock the gun and hide the kids at the same time.
They don't want classrooms getting broken into where thugs look to steal their guns.
And they do have certain kids that they worry about when they grow up.

They like the idea of having an armed guard stand outside the school, like they have at some banks.
Not a bad idea, but all I could think was good luck getting the gopers to fund that!

And they were amazed, and in awe, that someone at Sandy Hook Elementary left the intercom on to forewarn the entire school.

Just wanted to share.

I don't support armed teachers or guns in school but couldn't let this pass without a comment.

Gun violence is at historic lows and steadily declining. We have cut gun deaths from murder and manslaughter in half in the last 30 years. At the same time the number of guns and gun owners have steadily increased. More guns =/= More gun crimes.

Which is what gunhadists probably want. Us to 'get used to it.'
