Obama is my President and I am glad about that. He is what this country needs and he will do what is correct. He and his staff have acted honorably and there has been no undercurrent of corruption or anything else negative. He is doing well.
The republicans have hurt Susan Rice and therefore this country. They need to be held accountable for that.
The republicans in Michigan have signed into law that which was rejected by the voters concerning the emergency managers. They (republicans) need to be held accountable for that.
The republicans are rejecting the concerns of all Americans by holding out the the top 2%.
My President needs to think big:
65% tax on all income over 250k
90% tax on all investment income over $1 mil.
90% estate tax
no more charity deduction
All corporate deductions nullified
All subsidies ended
Do away with Obamacare and Medicaid.
Medicare will be extended for all Americans
All military bases in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas will close.
What else?

(53,072 posts)Obama ran on none of that. The American people have the right to know what to expect from a President when they vote for him. Besides, many of those ideas are just bad. Ending deductions for charity would do tremendous harm, and no one is proposing taxes of that level.

(37,305 posts)Medicare has a LOT of gaps in coverage. That is why you often need a medigap plan.

Low-income elderly people are particu- larly vulnerable because they are more likely to be experiencing health problems that require medical services than those who are economically better off, but are less able to afford needed care because of their lower incomes. Even routine care, such as physician visits or prescription drugs, can require older and poorer ben- eficiaries to make hard choices between basic necessities and needed health care services. Medicaid serves as an important complement to Medicare by assisting low- income Medicare beneficiaries with their Medicare premiums and cost-sharing and by providing coverage for prescription drugs and long-term care (LTC) services that are not available through Medicare. Without Medicaid's assistance, the costs of basic medical care can impede access tore and erode financial security for low income elderly people.
This article profiles the economic and health status of the low-income elderly population served by Medicare, assesses the impact of Medicare, and examines the role Medicaid plays as a supplement to Medicare. Particular emphasis is given to the burdens medical expenses impose on low-income elderly people, the extent to which coverage to supplement Medicare can assist in alleviating the impact of finan- cial burdens on access to care, and the im- plications of potential changes in the scope and structure of Medicare and Medicaid for the elderly low-income population.

(53,072 posts)Give him a chance to see what he does about budget negotiations, but capitulating to the right-wing liars on Rice makes it look like the GOP can roll him.
and that is why you walk back into the room with a very large stick, get their attention, start them shaking in their boots a little.
But I have noticed that no one has contributed any thing else to the list. Is spineless a part of being a Democrat? And I don't mean to imply you in that sentence. But must we always be "Oliver" pleading for more. When in our lives do we stand and say "You will lay no hand on me without painful repercussions."
I say now is that time.

Sounds awfully familiar to what the Republicans were suggesting.
