A Bunch Of Sad, Insecure Dudes Attacked A Woman And Everyone Got What They Deserved

http://www.upworthy.com/a-bunch-of-sad-insecure-dudes-attacked-a-woman-and-everyone-got-what-they-deserv?g=2&c=ufb1

When Anita Sarkeesian announced plans to do a video series exploring the portrayal of women in video games, she became the victim of a massive online attack choreographed by members of the gaming community who cast her as the "villain" in their online "game" to ruin her life. It did not go well for them. But for Anita, things ended up going very well indeed.

You definitely want to watch the whole thing, but here are some highlights: at 1:00 she talks about why she loves video games, at 2:02 just try to imagine yourself in her shoes, at 3:45 she sticks the people attacking her under a microscope, and at 8:15 she doesn't just win the game, she absolutely destroys it.

mob of grown men who do not want women excelling in what they believe is their world. A few years ago there was another similar case with grown men again, launching similar attacks, always with the intention of silencing and scaring their targets simply because she was good in a field that they felt was theirs.

She eventually handled it by going to the media and the former, brave keyboard warriors found out that when a spotlight shines on their bullying, the public at large doesn't find them quite as clever and 'brave' as their fellow bullies do. They were exposed and they rushed to scrub what they once though was so very clever comments, take down their blogs, and disappeared.

This woman did a brilliant job, she was cool, calm and determined. And the irony is, if they had left her alone, she would not have been nearly as successful as she is now. Bullies, they picked the wrong woman this time. She is very brave, those were very nasty attacks and it makes you wonder what kind of men they are.

was. I support this women's effort to change the image of women in video gams and glad she has received the resources she needs to spread a more positive image for women.

She's quite impressive which makes her very "dangerous". As is usually the case, she doesn't fit the feminist "caricature" catapulted in the media which is a double-whammy for some.
