It May Not Be A Political Civil War But It Sure Looks Like One

Half the states are RTW and half are not. Most GOP states are in revolt over ACA and are just about refusing to comply. People signing secessionist petitions. The GOP saying it won't cooperate on anything unless Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are gutted or put on the path to destruction while essentially wanting to eliminate all taxes on business and the rich. (Just look at Kansas tax policy). The war on women's rights being advanced under the radar. GOPPERS coming up all sorts of clandestine ideas to game the vote even though their last efforts did not succeed. Republicans staying bitter and angry. The "religious right" still scheming to find a way to make this a Christian nation run on Biblical principles. We seem to be divided in more ways than a pizza.

Meanwhile our problems grow by the day.

Almost looking like Northern Ireland in some ways.

These are turbulent times, but in terms of politically-motivated violence, this is far from a "Troubles" situation.

What I am talking about is a refusal to obey or follow federal policy in a passive aggressive way. We are slowly becoming Balkanized and regionalized in many ways. The refusal of some states to implement the Affordable Care Act, the seeking of individual exemptions from programs that have been national in nations. It appears that the GOP wants to go back to the Articles of Confederation. The refusal to accept federal funding in some cases. The determination of many red states to eliminate something like abortion that is still legal in the US. In some states now there is an effort to even end family planning.

Things do not always come apart violently but drift apart. The GOP wants to devolve most federal authority to the individual states on most matters. Now we have 50% of the states being right to work and they will compete with states that allow collective bargaining. That makes us even more economically divided.

The push to take agencies like the EPA, Forest Service and FEMA and essentially end them and send their responsibilities to the states is a problem. Environmental problems are national in many ways and not local. The GOP wants a balkanized nation on many levels and are willing to do anything politically to do it.

flaring up once again. Remember, the Civil War was about labor more than anything else.
