By Domingo Ramirez Jr.
A Richland Hills father who told a dispatcher that "I shed some innocent blood" was arrested early Wednesday after police say he used a box cutter to carve a pentagram into his young son's back.
When the dispatcher asked him why he did it, the man said, "It's a holy day," Richland Hills police said Wednesday.
Police identified the man as Brent Troy Bartel, 39. He was arrested at the scene.
Investigators confiscated the box cutter that they believed was used to carve the pentagram, a religious symbol featuring a five-pointed star.

OP
The psychological damage will be enormous. No more trust, no more safety. Perhaps he never had it.

The state shuld strip the parental rights from this 'father.' But they probably won't.

Likely the family will, for whatever reason, get the child back and subject the child to him again. Pathetic.
The child was treated at the hospital, but may carry the scar on his body the rest of his life. I don't expect him to recover from whatever else he was being subjected to for years, if ever.

(36,286 posts)4. Reading the article, the father is either going to jail or the hospital -
he may have been an abuser for a while, or he may have had a psychotic break.

In any case, it sounds like something only a drug crazed person would do.
