will not go over the cliff, but the principles are saying otherwise

I personally think the republicans in power are evil, and think that by going over the cliff they will "punish" the people for voting for the President.

I also believe they are destroying their party and future with that thinking. Democrats must stand strong

that is what I'm trying to point out to people dumping on President Obama about caving in. The President does not control the Senate. The Democrats do and certain Indepedents that will caucas with the Democrats. If anything happens to Social Security or Medicare, it want just be the President's and Republicans doing. The Democrats would have to go along with it and constuents of Democrats, have direct control over their reprentatives. The media and Republicans act like they don't have a constituency. That is why I have this negative attitude with the media so much. They are always bringing up the Republicans' district.

of the posts where people just say "Can you believe what so-and-so said?" and then you wonder what in the hell they are watching, what in the hell so-and-so said, and why in the hell you should care.

This was a one sentence post, but at we were informed of who was making the statement, what was said, and why we should care. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Those posts drive me crazy. This post stated who said it, what was said, and had plenty of context as far as I'm concerned, even though it was brief.

It's nowhere in the neighborhood of "OMG I can't believe he just said that, I'm outraged" and you have no idea who in the hell they are talking about, what they are watching and why you should be outraged, too.

Pelosi and Reid Have OBAMA's BACK: No Social Security Cuts & Taxes MUST Be RAISED On The RICH

Both Democratic leaders in the Senate have President Obama’s back on the fiscal cliff. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are both emphatic about the wealthy paying more taxes, and no cuts being made to Social Security.

Reid: No Messing With Social Security. Senate Democrats won't

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Social Security is off limits in upcoming negotiations over how to replace steep automatic tax increases and tax cuts with more targeted deficit reductions.

Sanders Applauds White House for Taking Social Security Off the Table in Deficit Talks

WASHINGTON, Nov. 27 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today welcomed White House assurances that Social Security benefits won’t be cut as part of negotiations on a year-end deficit-reduction deal.

“This is a step in the right direction for more than 55 million Americans who have earned Social Security benefits today and every working American who will receive Social Security benefits in the future,” said Sanders, the founder of the Senate Defending Social Security Caucus. “The simple truth is that Social Security has not contributed a nickel to the national debt so it makes no sense for it to be part of deficit negotiations,” he said.

“The American people have been clear that Social Security is enormously important to their well-being and that it should not be cut. The election and poll after poll show clearly that the American people want the wealthiest people and the largest corporations in this country, who are doing phenomenally well, to play a significant role in reducing the deficit,” Sanders added.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Monday that Social Security should be addressed separately from the lame-duck deficit negotiations. “We should address the drivers of the deficit and Social Security currently is not a driver of the deficit,” Carney said.

It will not hurt the wealthy. Their howling RW media is doing everything they can to scare the voters into thinking the end is near, so they'll be demoralized and give in. The war profiteers of WW2 survived the intentionally punitive tax rate during the era of Eisenhower and that money was spent on infrastructure, and will be again.

When they come back and say "Where's the spending cuts?" send them an offer to raise the top rate to 42%.

When they come back and say "You can't be serious?" send them an offer to raise the top rate to 46%.

When we go over the so called "fiscal cliff" send them an offer to raise the top rate to 51%.

The more they fuck around the higher the rate should go.

"Maybe you shouldn't have fucked with the president so much."

...The administration is threatening to weaken their ability to obstruct in the Senate or to blow up the economy by holding the debt ceiling hostage, while also demanding their tax hikes on the rich and refusing to offer anything remotely satisfactory (from the Republicans' point of view) in spending cuts.

Give the president what he wants or over the cliff we go. And the GOP gets the blame no matter what happens. Maybe you shouldn't have fucked with the president so much.
