Wheelmate Laptop Steering Wheel Desk. What could possibly go wrong?

More comedy gold from the customer reviews on Amazon:

"Thanks Wheelmate. What an amazing product. Was able to use the desk with my laptop easily the first time I hooked it onto my steering wheel. Can't wait to try it again after I get out of the hospital and this darned body cast."

"You wouldn't believe how much more interesting my commute is now that I have something to do other than just stare out the window! I'm using it right now to post this review and I never "

Not so good as baby changing table
I read some 4 and 5 star reviews by those who used this device successfully to change a baby while driving. On that basis, I bought one. I put my baby on it and drove for over an hour. It did not change. Same baby. I am glad it worked for some people but I will be returning mine. (The steering wheel desk.)

Amazon has turned into comedy gold often with some products.

Great Product, Poor Packaging

I purchased this product 4.47 Billion Years ago and when I opened it today, it was half empty.

There's actually a short film attached to one. I pulled a kidney laughing at that one.

I don't know what is funnier - the comments or all of the user photos that were uploaded to the product page of car wrecks.

The tray fit my steering wheel perfectly, and was quite solid, a well-engineered product. It will hold a charcoal grill, for example, 2-year-old twins, or a front rifle rest for a passenger. Anyways, I was using my laptop on the tray, and when I bumped the the car in front of me on the interstate, my airbag went off. I lost everything below my ribs, and I get my nutrients from a glucose bottle now. And I have even more time to play Angry Birds.

I cannot tell you how much I love this thing!! Before, I had to place my BK Triple Stacker and two large fries on the passenger seat in order to enjoy a small snack while commuting to and from work. With this product, I have my treat right at my finger tips as I drive. As much as I love this thing, I'm only giving it three stars because I really wish that it had connectors that allowed it to pivot when you turn. I really hate spilling my fries when I turn and am forced to cut straight through the corners. It would also be nice if the grips could adjust to fit higher on the steering wheel. With my seat all the way back, it still cuts into my stomach and I have trouble reaching the pedals. Other than that, it's a gem!

I was using this product in my car with my new 17" gaming laptop, catching up on some WoW daily quests on my way to work when suddenly I accidentally caused a massive accident on the highway because some jerk stole my quest mob and I was typing an insult to him. Anyway, the accident resulted in a 64 car pileup - 21 people were killed and another 30 injured but thankfully the Wheelmate managed to stop a piece of shrapnel from an exploding gas tanker that would have otherwise killed me.

They wouldn't accept a return since shrapnel wasn't covered under warranty, so I removed one star.

My makeup has never looked better!

How annoying was it that I had to search in my cosmetics bag between my legs to apply my makeup during my morning commute. Now my problems are solved! I am able to lay out all of my supplies and I don't even have to wait for a stoplight!

My only complaint is that my lipstick and mascara roll off during sharp turns. I'm looking forward to the following upgrade packages:

- bumpers to prevent roll-off
- mirror attachment so I can have three views with my visor and rear view.
- dual electrical outlet attachment for my blow drier and curling iron.

Put me on the pre-order list!

Poorly designed

This is the worst ironing board ever. Why would it not come with the cloth cover? There are scorch marks all over it, melted plastic everywhere and my clothes are tearing between the iron and the board. While I appreciated the time savings of ironing in the car, I don't appreciate having to buy the cover separately. Come on guys, don't try and nickle and dime us.

Be careful!

I absolutely love my steering wheel desk. It has really been a time saver balancing my checkbook on the way to work. I was just wasting that 30 minutes a day staring out a windshield, and now I am productive!

A word of caution: If you buy a used one, be sure that it is in mint condition. I got mine used and it clearly has the face print and a tooth of the previous owner imprinted into the surface.

Other than that, I just love it!

Do not buy this product! The surface is so slippery that my Jack and Coke slipped off while turning and lodged under the brake pedal. At least it got caught in the windw and kept my loaded rifle from flying out. Luckily I was stealing my ex's boat or I would have died, and the toxicology report would not have been pretty. I am definitely returning the boat version of the steering wheel desk.
