It was somewhere between -5 and -10 degrees this morning, but a bunch of us still turned out to protest the second anniversary of the Citizens United decision for a couple of hours. I've posted a few pictures here: http://northernvisions.smugmug.com/Politics/Citizens-United-Protest/21116762_hpkRJv#!i=1679708705&k=bBhCwJc
This is former state representative Bob Buch, who sports one of my favorite moustaches.

(31,893 posts)Btw, we're actually having pretty much the same temps here as you. But hardly any snow - they had to cancel the John Beargrease sled dog race. It's totally NOT a good winter here, so far.

(46,436 posts)Ours has been an overabundance of "good winter," I think.
Yes, Bob lost in his re-election bid in 2010. It was the same old Tea Party crap. You can see he's strongly pro-union, and you know how that went in 2010. He was replaced by this twit. http://house.legis.state.ak.us/rep.php?id=cos She looks good on paper, but she's just your typical Republican obstructionist. I think the "governor" she worked for was "she who shall not be named."
Here's just a little piece of a newspaper clipping I just found to give you an idea --
The prime sponsors of the "parental involvement" initiative (re teenage abortions) are former lieutenant governor Leman, recent Anchorage school board candidate Mia Costello, and Kim Hummer-Minnery, whose husband is president of the Alaska Family Council, a Christian pro-family, anti-abortion group that is supporting the effort.
Those three are an unholy Trinity.
