Michigan's right wing governor is, right now, trying to cram Right To Work (for less) legislation through the lame ducks in Lansing. I'm on hold on two lines and typing with a free hand.
Anyway hit this poll! The wording is biased as hell and labor is losing:

(1,435 posts)UNIONS does not mean everyone HAS to be in union, which the poll implies. Two factories can be next to each other doing same thing
one is union the other is not is allowed. One chose to unionize to get fair share of profit and wage.
Why work forty or eighty hours while ceo is playing golf and making $155,000 a week on your labor and your making $500. Unions will help you get better wages, vacations, holidays, insurance, working conditions and protection from unfair dismissal also promotions on seniority and qualification; not because supervisor is related, or has the hots for you.
The other factory not unionized, you get wages and have no say, can be fired just to let girlfriend or friend take place, lousy insurance if any, favoritism on promotion and overtime, no seniority as union where it is first in last out on lay offs and so much more for a small fee per month.
The right to work for less states, may save you a few dollars per month but offer no security, they are pro business at your expense.
Too bad this is being done, because no one campaigned on making Michigan a RIGHT TO WORK STATE.
Didn't anyone tell you that republicans are pro business and anti labor growing up. I know a lot of people got very comfortable because
they were in unions and forgot their roots and thought they were republicans and voted against their own interests. Imagine giving all three branches of state govt to republicans and expect something good to come of it.

This sucks.
I expect a backlash and that this won't last, but for now it is bullshit.

(232 posts)They pushed it through in a single day with out a single committee hearing and without a single word of testimony.

(22,336 posts)They don't care how people voted, they don't care what anyone wants. They want to do it before they're gone in January so they just did it.

(22,336 posts)Even in what one would think would be a strong union area like Michigan. People fall for propaganda. It's sad.
