(30,250 posts)I always like the Kennedy centers Honors and try to watch it every year. I hope that I'm able to this year (it airs on Dec. 26th).
I'm glad that Dustin Hoffman is getting the award. Years ago when he was on Broadway doing The Merchant of Venice, he brought over 50 tickets to The Lee Strasberg Institute so that the students could attend his performance. He's a very nice guy, so is Al Pacino.

(4,787 posts)in HuffPo, at the bottom of the page. A quote from the article:
Obama drew laughs from his guests when he described the honorees as "some extraordinary people who have no business being on the same stage together."
Noting that Guy made his first guitar strings using the wire from a window screen, he quipped, "That worked until his parents started wondering how all the mosquitoes were getting in."
The president thanked the members of Led Zeppelin for behaving themselves at the White House given their history of "hotel rooms trashed and mayhem all around."
Obama noted Letterman's humble beginnings as an Indianapolis weatherman who once reported the city was being pelted by hail `the size of canned hams.' "It's one of the highlights of his career," he said.

(10,942 posts)the White House with this President. Imagine the great people that they meet daily. Must be the major experience so far in their lives, as it would be in the life of any young person working in the White House.

(3,238 posts)evening. In my many years as part of the production crew, there are only two people who I have witnessed, who always seem to be not enjoying themselves after we're done with the live to tape part of the evening. These two are always the same whether we're working the Oscars, Prime time or Daytime Emmy's, and any other live, or live to tape awards show I've been involved with over the years. These two are both Republicans, and both are generally miserable in their day to day lives as well even with all of their power and wealth.....how do I know?.....I've been working for one of them for 20 some odd years, and the other is his wife. My boss lives in a weird entitlement bubble, and his wife, enables the bubble in order that she continue to receive the baubles. Otherwise, a good time was had by all. I'll also add this, the whole production and atmosphere of the show, feels different when a Democrat is in the Whitehouse.......especially this year with our huge win in November. Broadcast will be on CBS December 26, 2012 at 9:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT. I'll be flying back to LA on Wednesday and then driving down to Palm Springs on Saturday morning. Hope all you guys and gals are doing great and enjoy the broadcast.

She is the most attractive, most sophisticated, best dressed First Lady since Jackie Kennedy.
