1. You should attack religion. "Nice Jesus" is a myth too.

Unlike that other stuff, homophobia is explicitly in the New Testament.

6. I prefer to think that Jesus is represented by The Beatitudes.

With all due respect, decades ago when I studied the "Red Words" that Jesus supposedly said, it was pretty benign, even though none of the quotes were written during the years attributed to his lifetime. I prefer to believe that it was a time in human history when the consciousness shift was beginning to break out of barbarianism. At that time it was definitely not considered a religion but a heresy. If history is correct, it also got him killed.

The revolution was away from "an eye for an eye..." it was ... (1) Love your Creator with all that is within you. (2) Love your neighbor as yourself. Even he said, paraphrased, the rest is Fluff.

7. Don't forget to look up what Jesus said about homosexuality.

Or abortion, for that matter.

Absolutely nothing.

No red, blue, green, purple, chartreus or black words. Not a goddamned thing.

It's fine with me if you take comfort or find faith in the Babble, just don't try to force it on the rest of us.

If you're OK with that, we'll get along just fine.

10. Uh, that was the point. If you know The Beatitudes, they are all about love and such.

Not babble...not forcing it...sending a response...just letting Jesus off the hook. He himself did not consider himself religious, nor am I, but realize that the concepts hold true even for agnostics or atheists and from all other cultures. Be kind unto one another. Love your neighbor. Stuff like that.

Peace.

11. Paul, formerly Saul of Taurus and persecutor, became the First Christian Preacher

Jesus was so far ahead of his time with his message of peace and nonviolence, that Paul, a Jew, felt he had to put it in the more barbarian time frame lexicon and come up with some rules. Yes, there is a difference.

I don't know how you got that idea? Red Words that I referred to, are the only recorded words of Jesus. The rest is a conglomeration of historians and oral history, put into writing.

and creeps. And for many of them religion is a veil they hid behind to practice their unending hatred. There are a hell of a lot of evil people claiming to be religious.

I just wanted to update this some ... I know there are also some very very good religious people too!!!

4. Also the Biblical Stoning thing...
Sun Dec 2, 2012, 09:38 PM

Why does the Bible tell parents in Deuteronomy 21:18-21 to kill their disobedient children with stones?

"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death."

Morbid...Just a bit over the top. Laws necessary for barbarian-era tribes roaming the desert.

Jesus came to replace the Old Levitcal Law. Gay rights are at least 2,000 years past due.

8. It's more of a fear thing.
Sun Dec 2, 2012, 11:22 PM

FEAR that they'll have to admit that everyone's bi, to some extent, though most are comfortable enough with their own realities to admit it, whether they ever try it or not.

Based on the fact that cancervatives constantly, constantly imagine one "act" that not all gays engage in, I mean they dwell on it ALL THE TIME, to the point of obsession, because they think about it ALL THE TIME, apparently, and because they think about it in such detail they must imagine themselves in that naughty position, because what else could cause so much revulsion if that particular act was done on an unwilling person, which it almost never is, except in cases of molestation, rape and incest, which have nothing to do with gay adults, but often show up in cases of religious wackjobs abusing their "authority" to abuse others and tell them "Jesus is gonna git you!" if they dare reveal the truth about what happened to them.

Catholics molesting kids is only the tip of the iceberg. Anyone who declares themselves in authority, by claiming to know Gawd's will, is a lying asshole who will abuse anyone, steal anything, to imagine Gawd "blessed" them with "power" over others.

Fuck them all. IMO.

There is nothing logical or rational about modern religion. Apply the logic/reason test to the core beliefs of even the most tolerant believer, and one is likely to get called a bigot.
