2. An excellent starting point about violence against women

In the past week there have been several threads here about rape.

Some of us tried to interject that rape is only part of violence against women. Men feel rejected, humiliated, frustrated, angered - take your pick - and they beat and kill the women in their lives. They will not take a NO for an answer.

We often think of rape as something that happen by strangers, to a woman who, say, jogs in the park

and often ends in murder. And of course this is a traumatic experience that for many years police wondered what "she did wrong to invite this."

But there are the constant beating and threatening of women who just want out of a relationship. And in too many cases, killing the women and family members.

We're supposed to feel sorry for the Chiefs because of their starting linebackers was a murderer? I don't get it. They shouldn't proclaim the Chief's win as anything other than the result of a hard-fought football game. Trying to present the Chief's victory as anything meaningful is a slap in the face to the woman who was murdered or the girl who was orphaned.
