I was just thinking back to when I got home from the inauguration and put on the news, and how exciting it was the first time I heard them say "President Barack Obama." And a couple minutes later, I heard them say "Former President George W. Bush." I couldn't decide which sounded better.
Which made you guys happier?

(32,094 posts)For many reasons, including the fact that "Former President George W. Bush" goes without saying at that point.

(11,607 posts)After hearing him referred to as "President Bush" for 8 years, it was very nice to hear him referred to as a former president. And naturally, I had waited a lot longer to hear that than to hear them say "President Barack Obama."
Still, there was something really special about the first time they said "President Barack Obama."

(11,607 posts)than you were about the fact that Obama became president AND Bush was no longer president?
I can add the option if you want. I guess I should have thought of that.

(11,607 posts)IMO, he was only elected once. Although I guess in 2000 he technically did win a majority, 5-4.

(45,319 posts)I did not care to take part in the elevation of Rick Warren.
It was an exclusionary event. Such events should be for all Americans, and they should not include speakers who attack specific groups of Americans. That's my opinion.
