In 2008 we elected a smart president, but in 2012 we elected a MUCH SMARTER president.

There were so many reasons to vote for Barack Obama on this last Nov. 6.

But for me, one, if not THE MOST PERSUASIVE reason, was that if you put a truly smart man up against it, you're likely to see him get smarter. Because the real definition of intelligence is somewhere between IQ and EQ (emotional intelligence). A truly sage human being has a good mix of both. And that's something I've always felt in Barack Obama's vibe.

I think the same was true of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, and well, all our really great presidents who consistently win the test of time.

Follow me below the swirl of orange cotton candy to discuss the benefits of a smart person given the time and space to grow smarter.

Because see, for me, that was so much the thing with this president. I watched him for four years, bobbing and weaving and often succeeding, despite his, at times, incredible, painful innocence. And I do believe Barack Obama came to the office of the presidency with more innocence than many before him.

President Obama is still in campaign mode and many are well aware of the big difference between campaign Obama and the governing and capitulating Obama.

The hope for real change is long gone but maybe I will be surprised, but somehow I doubt it.

and try learning history

start at seeing the movie Lincoln.

Lincoln=FDR=LBJ=CARTER=OBAMA

I would take out the other presidents listed in OP, personally, maybe put Washington in a little lower down

Eisenhower was a joke, like Reagan, not smart at all, a nice guy perhaps, but whatever.
Jefferson was a fraud. He is credited with the Declaration (all men are created equal) of course he owned slaves, abused people and was a major hypocrite, though he attempted to atone like Lee Atwater near the end). But he was what he was.

All are created equal. Women, and blacks and everybody
Not just Men. Sorry TJ.

and only if one has a wedge issue, does one not see the historic movement
As Bing Crosby said in "White Christmas" everybody has an angle.
And the ones that don't see it, do too.

Again, watch LIncoln.

America was built on COMPROMISE to get the forward movement.
America was not built on 100% or nothing

10% ofsomething is a helleva lot better than 100% of nothing

and you will never see another president as good as Obama in any of our lifetimes, though Hillary45 will or could come close.

But it takes a foundation to make a house
and it takes a long time for a seed to grow into a majestic redwood

and if you look in the sky and can see a moving cloud, it means there is a patch of blue there too. In which case it is a good day. Even if there are clouds, it still is a big day

Of course, one can whine about a wedge issue or two, and I hope you then shall be happy
with Jeb in 2016.

there is a line in the sand

Obama is one side
the loser in 2012 is on the other

in 2016
Hillary is one side
Jeb Bush on the other
remember, it takes a Clinton to beat a Bush

take your choice. It is stark in its difference

And if you don't see it, again, your eyes must be wide shut (to quote the legendary Stanley Kubrick).

but then there was probably someone who didn't like Lincoln or FDR too.
but most of those would have been todays tea party people.

second...

IMHO President Obama has yet to learn the difference between Compromise and Capitulation maybe he has after 4 years of proving he did not.

Nothing has happend except both sides spewing noise.

The proof will be what President Obama signs into law.

It took 100 years from when Lincoln signed the 13th
to when LBJ signed all those bills
It took 50 years after LBJ for a black person to become President

history needs to be history before it can be seen

BTW-while OWS whined about police treatment and all, the protesters in the past were far worse abused, and Dr. King knew he would die and kept doing what he did.
Well aware that his days were numbered, but his cause would indeed be won and he was correct.
So maybe these pampered protesters today should look to Dr. King and see they are living in a high class mansion compared to the protesters back then.

Hell, at least they can go to any bathroom they choose, not one that said Blacks not allowed here.

And change already has come with the health care bill...for the first time in 20 years, I did NOT get a 15% rise in premiums this May,it was zero increase, because MY President now has made the insurance companies justify a rise in self-employed regular insurance.

But then, maybe you would think McCain would have gotten you more than has be gotten?
The loser of this time???

it takes a seed decades to become a redwood.

Patience is needed

Even God took six days and that was before the internet

There are things he does that has people on both the far right and far left kicking and screaming, but I rarely ever find myself kicking and screaming... even as someone that considers himself to be farther left than the President. I suppose I'm a pragmatist first and a leftist second.

I feel that no matter what he does, and no matter how it may help me or my family in particular... some groups on both sides, motivated by self-interest, will try and tell me he is doing something shitty because it affects them in some way... even if it may be beneficial to the majority of the people.
