Joe Biden enjoys himself at opening of D.C. Costco

Vice President Biden dropped in on Washington D.C.’s first Costco Thursday. He was greeted by CEO Craig Jelinek and co-founder Jim Sinegal, both of whom attended a grand opening ceremony for the store earlier in the morning.

Biden “engaged in an extended Costco shopping spree, to the delight of shoppers and employees at the store,” according to the pool report.

The vice president flashed his Costco card as he walked through the doors to loud cheers. Employee Ivey Stewart handled a cart for Biden, who stopped frequently for hugs and photos.

“In all honesty, I didn’t have my own card, Jill wouldn’t let me have one,” he said. “I went to get my wife’s card, and she said, ‘No, No, get your own card.’”

Didn't someone recently insist that "corporations are people, my friend?" At least in the case of Costco, the employees who make up the company are actually treated like they're worth more than some soulless bottom line.

...knee-cap him to get at the food dish.

I...I can't think of any other element in the Democratic Party which would actively wage war against the Vice President of a Democratic President when it comes to a Presidential run. And Biden is, as you know, no slouch. Sharp as a tack, quick-witted and...he has an incredible amount of experience.

He has played a major role as a Presidential Whip, especially a few years ago, to help get the President's agenda moved forward in Congress. He was in the trenches, bigtime!

I LOVE Joe Biden! He is the most down-to-earth, genuine, easy-to-relate-to politician I've ever seen.

Glad you're here, especially joining us in one of our little Joe Biden love fests! I am SO pleased that President Obama picked him as his running mate. They're a terrific team, and he sure did put little punk-ass upstart Congressman Widow's Peak in his well-deserved place. Biden has been toiling in the back of the vineyard for years - and he's MORE THAN earned all this. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the BIG chair, but then again, I wouldn't mind seeing Hillary get there, either.

Hey, do we have bench-strength, or do we have bench-strength? And add in people like Deval Patrick and Cory Booker, and one (or both) of the Castro brothers, and that's just the short list!

I would love to get a Cosco membership but the only store in delaware is right by the Christiana Mall, which is a traffic nightmare. Plus they just opened a BJ's much closer on Kirkwood.

If you don't mind fighting the crowds, the best thing about going to Costco is all of the free samples of food. I've found more yummy stuff that way.

Mental note: gotta go back and get some of that yummy cheese log that we found last year.

Probably why he gets unfairly dissed about his talents and experience. Of course when he showed his chops in the V.P. debate, he was accused of being mean to Paul Ryan. I was looking forward to that debate, knowing Biden would decimate Ryan, when the pundits were predicting the opposite. Love the man!

38. Biden Sets a Good Example - Costco is a Dem Retailer - Vote with your Dollar!

Surprised no one noted (though the article inferred) that Costco leans heavily Democratic
when it comes to political contributions, even more than Wal-Mart leans Republican. See:

http://www.goodguide.com/contributions#sector=Retail%20Sales&sort=total&query=

That's why I bought my laptop for school at a Costco. The site above needs updating
but the concept is awesome; we should have a good online guide available to inform us
on how to more effectively vote with our dollars in the public marketplace.
