the 42 worst nativity sets

let’s get to it! merry christmas all, and enjoy or be horrified by this weird collection of nativity oddness.

the kitty cat nativity. makes me want to cough up a hairball.

the nativity kitchen timer (ding-ding! baby jesus is born!):

yeah, the cat nativity is probably worse. but these dogs ain’t much better…

technically, not a nativity. but it’s a christmas lawn ornament, showing (can you believe it?) the flogging of jesus on the way to the cross. there’s some christmas cheer for your neighborhood!

I came home from work years ago and spied this scene across the street. I was so awed, I grabbed my camera and snapped a photo

Did the junk pile behind have a deeper meaning.

I have to think about this.

Where is baby Jesus in the picture.

he splashes onto the scene at the end of act one.

A fine junk pile always has meaning to me. I was coveting that fine sled until "She Who Must Be obeyed" pointed out my own junk pile was already filled plus it doesn't snow in California. Still, that sled under the Redwood tree beckoned to me for days until a junk monger hauled the mess away.

For one, it is just weird to put a decoration on your lawn of anyone being flogged, but also Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. The flogging and crucification of Jesus is Easter. They've got their holidays mixed up.

although I'm not sure what kind of belief inspired that. Maybe a belief in LSD?

...what a kitschy fraud modern American fundies have made of Christmas. I want to see one that's full of right wing loons. Palin, Bachman, Santorum, Norquiest, and Rove as the baby? Ryan could be a wise man as the bagger intellectual. Oh--and we need Bill O'Reilly somewhere. He could be one of the braying donkeys.

the last statement may be a bit over-the-top, but the rest ring true.
