General Discussion

She's a longtime neo-con in the Hillary Clinton/Joe Lieberman mode and the GOP knows damn well they can depend on her to promote interventionist policies they have traditionally agreed with throughout the last few decades. And they know they have Obama cornered into naming her by their dog and pony show of opposition.
I am one citizen who does not believe the position of Secretary of State should be filled by a hawk or a neo-con.
I have no qualms with a neo-con or hawk serving as an advisor to the President, as all options and views should be discussed thoroughly by any president and his team. I just want the State Department led by someone who sees diplomatic success as the goal, not as a stepping stone to interventionism and war.
BTW...Since when do Democrats and left media believe that McCain and his chorus of GOP senators are utterly sincere in their stated attacks on Rice?

JK - I worked on Kucinich's 2004 campaign, after Dean flamed out.
On a serious note, wouldn't it be great if Obama proposed the creation of a Department of Peace and nominated Kucinich to run it? I'm not holding my breath.

(10,942 posts)Human Rights issues. Have you stopped for once to think about whether Rice's push for intervention is driven by her human rights concerns more than a desire to shed blood? War is often needed to stop evil, in the last 100 years, countless cases of where war arrested evil and actually saved lives once the larger picture was known.
