I just got done watching a clip of one of the latest press conferences given by McCain, Graham, and Ayotte about Susan Rice and, well, why is she there and what is she there for? I haven't actually heard her speak but she looks so....vacuous and....distracted whenever she's hanging around Graham and McCain doing one of these press conferences to show how "troubled" they are about Susan Rice (re: Benghazi). Come to think of it, Graham looked somewhat uncomfortable too. Are they putting her up there as a cover to "prove" to us that all this feigned concern about Benghazi and Rice's initial CIA-approved statements isn't just two old white men picking on an intelligent and eminently qualified African-American woman? This is a sideshow quickly becoming a farce. Does Ayotte know what she is getting herself into? Does she realize that she is (probably) just being used by McCain and Graham in order to go after Rice? I would almost feel sorry for her..........if I thought that she wasn't doing this willingly.

(4,822 posts)put out by Republicans on all the talk shows when it was clear the womens vote was slipping away due to the rape comments of Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock and other Republicans etc... They routinely use Sen. Kelly Ayotte for that purpose (so they wont look sexist) so this is just par for the course. I think she knows what's up.

(24,415 posts)The problem (for them) is that it just seems too obvious. She doesn't really look and sound like she is all that passionate about the issue and would rather be somewhere else doing something else. I wonder how she got roped into this?

(489 posts)In her primary she ran against an unabashed RW lunatic (the one Maggie Hassan took care of this year in the NH governors race) running as a moderate. As soon as she won she veered into the far right lane and is now a Fox News favorite.
Yes, they are using her against Rice as the token woman, but I'm sure she is quite a willing participant in this far right rant.

(24,415 posts)I mean, she's a grown woman after all and McCain and Graham aren't dragging her around in shackles to these loony "press conferences".
