He only lost to Warren by 8 points, which is close for a Republican in Massachusetts.

It was painful watching Andrea Mitchell trying to come up with any other reasons the trio would oppose Susan Rice.

i hope Obama plays with these fuckers & nominates Kucinich, or better yet, Bill Clinton.

that may give the repuke scum enough of a conniption to drive John Assy McGee into a locked room in an asylum, taking Mitch MockTurtle with him; which would open up a couple more Senate seats for grabs.

Many apologies to Rachel, about my mistake (I was clicking between DWTS and MSNBC last night during both Rachel's and Lawrence's shows). But everything clicked in place for me when I heard the theory. It makes total sense from a purely raw, naked political standpoint. I believe it. And I'll tell you what else I believe, I think Obama knows that Susan's rice is cooked. I don't mean any disrespect in this at all, but it's true. And I don't believe for a second that it'll be Kerry that Obama would be checked into picking at this point. I think he's smart enough to checkmate the rethugs with another move that they couldn't block.

And get this, Big Ed was saying that it was out on the Beltway today that Chuck Hagel's being vetted for a "cabinet position". Check. Mate.

were the only people with the (R) designation before their names that Brown was willing to campaign or be photographed with during his run. This is no coincidence, folks. This gets more real every minute the clock continues to tick. It's a wolfish hunger for a possible senate seat that they hope they could "win" - by hook or crook. I think Obama will surprise everyone with his announcement on his noms. I know Kerry wants this. Who in politics wouldn't? But the timing is wrong for Dems.

13. Kerry Should Not Leave His Senate Seat
Wed Nov 28, 2012, 11:15 PM
Nov 2012

We can not allow the GOP even one more Senate seat! There are other good candidates out there. What about George Mitchell? What about Dick Durbin and then in Illinois, the Governor (Democrat Pat Quinn)could appoint someone (Democratic Attorney General Lisa Madigan) to Durbin's seat. What about Joe Binden and then make Hillary the VP? Could Bill Clinton do it? Maybe these are not the best choices and Susan Rice deserves it, but I'm trying to point out that John Kerry is not the only one who can effectively do the job and Rachel is right: the GOP wants this so they have a shot again in MA. DON'T DO IT!

The Senator is more valuable than just one additional vote. And, I don't know if you were around when Clinton was appointed SOS, but she gave up her senator seat to accept this post. It was later won by a Democrat, just as Senator Kerry's would if he were to leave.
The idea tjat people are so frigtened about Brown winning again is laughable.

The entire tin foil hat theory is rediculious. This whole theory suggests that Brown was so liked and his seat so needed that theses Republicans would go to extemes to take a chance on him being able to get back in the Senate. LOL. I like Maddow a lot, but she is really out in left field on this one.
And, it doesn't explain Senator Collins concerns today. She didn't campaign for Brown.
If you want to go with the idea that they are pushing for Senator Kerry. maybe it is because they worked with him and respect his work in foreign policy and believe that he is the better choice for Secretary of State. But, even as much as I want to see Senator Kerry get this position, I find it highly unplausiable that they would go to such great lenghs to support him, and I feel the same way when it comes to Brown. Stupid, stupid, stupid theories.

to leave the Senate. With all the Repubes expressing support for him to be in the Cabinet, it's pretty transparent what their objective is. Obama should ask McCain or Graham to be in his Cabinet.
Kerry should stay in the Senate for the greater good.
Senate Republicans are stepping over the line by demanding who will be or won't be in the President's Cabinet.
Saw Susan Collins on Hardball and she was an absolute incoherent moron taking an untenable stand against Susan Rice.
The feigned indigence act has shot its wad. No one cares what Republicans have to say unless it's under oath, and even then no one believes them. Their reliance on Pox News to spread their lies is also stale. Send for the hemlock.

completely by mistake (via the Latest Page), and won't make that mistake again. I adore John Kerry, but I don't want that Senate seat placed in jeopardy, nor do I want to get into a flamefest with his DU group, most of whom I respect tremendously.

Oddly enough, Ari Melber, who actually worked for the '04 Kerry presidential campaign agrees that this is a crafty shellgame being played by Repukes, and your post further confirms it. Thanks for posting. Even if Rice isn't the right nominee, there has to be someone else, preferably someone who isn't a current office holder.

I'd like to see Clinton stay on for about six months, into President Obama's second term. And only hear crickets from the WH about who he will nominate or when, in that entire time. That would drive them totally around the bend - hopefully...

How long can McCain continue his insane witch-hunt? This would make it oh, so difficult for him, maintaining his sanctimonious tantrums every day, for that length of time.

While I believe Rachel's theory has a lot of valid merit, I still think that much of this is personal with grumpy-pants.
