"Bracing the Base"

This was the banner on MSNBC when discussing congresscritters from both sides telling their constituency via press conferences to be prepared for "compromises on both sides". My T.V. is somehow still intact. (this was about 2:00 P.M. Eastern.)
I have a queasy feeling in my stomach, even after delivering a thumping to the right in the election, the status quo has not changed. I take this as "prepare yourself to have even more taken from you by the wealthiest of this country, your vote meant less than nothing even to those you voted for."
