Caught on Camera: Monroe County NY DA Sandra Doorley defies police orders in traffic stop
Marcia Greenwood | Rochester Democrat and Chronicle | April 27, 2024
In a story published Friday morning in the Democrat and Chronicle, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley acknowledged to D&C reporter Gary Craig that there was friction in her interaction with a Webster police officer during a Monday traffic stop for speeding.
On Friday afternoon, based on a Freedom of Information Law request, the Webster Police Department released video from the body-worn camera of the officer, Cameron Crisafulli, and of other officers who responded to the scene.
It shows a highly tense exchange with Doorley refusing to follow Officer Crisafullis commands and cursing at him while wandering in and out of the garage of her home and at one point entering her home on Fallen Leaf Terrace in Webster, where the stop ended.
After Doorley swears at Crisafulli, he says, I dont know why youre acting like this toward me, pointing out that she should have stopped on Phillips Road, where the officer, with his emergency lights activated, tried to pull her over after clocking her going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone around 5:30 p.m...more

(15,450 posts)She complains that she shouldn't be stopped because she's driving a big black SUV.
Poor dog is running around trying to figure out what's going on.
Seems like a MTG character to me.

Had to go back a bit to find it - but Paul Irving was a wonderful advocate for my cousin when he was murdered. I mean - they saw it coming . . . but still.
Think. Again.
(8,738 posts)...the speeding is trivial, but her assumption of privilege and that there are different levels of justice for different citizens, that she has to uphold, is a huge red flag for the citizens of her county.

All nine Rochester City Council members signed a letter Saturday to New York State Attorney General Letitia James calling for an investigation into the conduct of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley.
This comes one day after the Town of Webster released police body camera footage of an interaction between a police officer and the DA on April 22, in which Doorley appears combative toward the officer who had tried to pull her over for speeding.
After the officer says he doesn't understand Doorley's "hostility" toward him, she responds, "You're being [expletive]" ...

(6,574 posts)I think we saw her true self in the first video. A privileged person who can fix her own ticket by tearing it up. She said she would tear it up.
Why was the supervisor called out, when he declined to make the decision on whether to cuff her up and haul her ass in? Wasn't that his job? So many people just want to avoid making decisions lately. I guess that's the way they do it. He did take the time to tell the cop that his own body camera was not on (?), and the first cop said his was on.
And then, the first cop decided just to give her the ticket without arresting her. So, he gives it to her and she tells him she'll just prosecute herself, presumably to dismiss the ticket.
I kept thinking, that dog was lucky he didn't get shot. That's the way my little dog acts while he's jockeying for position to bite an ankle. I have to hook him up for company.
