On many levels. Hes taking it directly to the people. And doing it on Stern is a stroke of pure PR genius.

And its definitely an area the President could stand to shore up. But lets not pretend a pay radio show thats 85% affluent white males is akin to a whistle stop tour of the heartland.
President Biden needs to make all the appearances he can, so Im not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

(47,678 posts)He is making lots of stops in different places. He is a seasoned politician with a lot of savvy advisers behind him. Howard Stern was unexpected, but from what I've heard, it was a good interview.
Doing the unexpected often works out well for politicians. It sounds like he is reaching a lot of people with diverse backgrounds.

(14,600 posts)the President for all Americans. Everybody.
Most educated people vote Democratic whatever their race, ethnicity or gender.
Nixon and his Southern Strategy slowly started cutting out working class people, and then presto, you got your Reagan Democrats.
One of the greatest things Biden did was being so pro-union, because for a long time working stiffs went Republican. I never understood that. Probably had to do with AM hate-talk radio. Lots of working class people listen to that crap all day long.
The truth is, we need everybody.

(9,879 posts)....he's been through a lot of counseling and is a different person. he really is a great interviewer. he tried t get hillary to come on his show during the 2016 campaign and she declined because she was close minded about it. he was trying to help her. i think had she done an interview with him then, she would just be finishing her second term.

(62 posts)He is a big supporter of democrats and is nothing like the juvenile shock jock of the 1990s. He is an excellent and interesting broadcaster.
Lots of good guy broadcasters we found out later were pigs behind the scenes. Stern put it out there and didnt hide his schtick. But we all change and grow, and I really think when he married his second wife, she had a big influence on him to look within and become a better man. Howard Stern is a great man today you should open your mind and see if theres any forgiveness.

that be? No decent person should go on Fox - and Stern is worse, (in my opinion) even if he alleges to be a liberal.
Edited to add Correction: Some decent liberal politicians DO go ion Fox but I dont know why since liberals dont usually watch Fox.

(62 posts)He takes his truth to Fox often and is not afraid of them. He aims to reach those viewers that are in that eco chamber. We have to open the big tent to middle America and the elderly voters we have lost through that constant berating of the left they have been exposed to for almost three decades.

I realize he disgusts a large part of the population because of all the sex talk, but did you actually listen to the interview?
If not, please do so. While it may not change your opinion of Stern, you will see that it was a very respectful and insightful interview.
It was pure class from both sides of the desk.
Something not even possible from the traitorous scum currently sitting in a courtroom.

(2,235 posts)Pete's 'get out of the DEM bubble to communicate to a wider audience' example is opening eyes that might normally be closed to the good the Biden team is accomplishing and will accomplish in the future, given the chance.
I know some were shocked, even dismayed when Buttigieg first started showing up on FOX and other RW media, but the man proved his point. Think a bit outside the box, then go outside the box to talk real issues, real facts, real hope to the audiences that might otherwise not hear the REAL FACTS.
Buttigieg was the first DEM 2020 primary candidate to bow out of the race and support Biden. And Biden showed his brilliance at team building by appointing Pete to the cabinet. Biden is an forward thinking, elegant problem solver who will never be 'too old' to learn new ways to address and solve problems faced by the American people. Biden really does pick the best people and he is genius enough to learn from them all, then take what he learns and finds ways to 'make it so'.
