Check out this article in WIRED, and just remember pretty much anything you post on the internet can be/will be attributed to you. Anonymity/Copyright is not quite what many thing.

"A silly copyright notice is sweeping Facebook today, with users attaching pseudo-legalese to their status updates in a misguided effort to prevent Facebook from owning or commercially exploiting their content. Facebook has issued a formal “fact check” statement refuting the legalese.

The viral copyright notice last spread on Facebook in May and June. Now it’s back and garnering lots of attention.

The notice incorrectly implies that Facebook has recently changed the copyright provisions of its user agreement. It then unnecessarily asserts a user’s copyright over his Facebook posts (you retain such copyright without posting a notice) and cites the “Berner Convention,” an irrelevant international treaty properly spelled “Berne Convention.” The notice then instructs Facebook to get written permission to make commercial use of the user’s content, which is pointless as Facebook users agree to let the social network make money off their posts when they sign up for the service. In general, it is correct that absent an agreement otherwise, you own what you write, notice or no notice.

As you point out, the sticking point is "absent an agreement otherwise" which, of course, makes the user agreement relevant.

9. This is just an extension of the Facebookers' penchant

for accepting anything they see on their monitor as gospel truth. There's no caution, no wondering, just acceptance. That's how Fox News spreads its lies, too. Some talking head says some nonsense on the TV and the next day it's being forwarded to millions of email accounts and posted on everyone's Facebook feeds. When it is found to be false, there are exactly zero retractions of it by the people who were duped.

The real folly of this Facebook copyright nonsense is that so many people seem to believe that their photos of their offspring and their ramblings about trivial things have any value to anyone.

Facebook can be a nice place to visit with your friends and family. Used in that way, it's very useful. Most people do not use it that way. It's not easy to use it well. Only by unfriending every Facebooker who slimes your feed with Farmville crap or reposts the latest right-wing lie can you regain control of the space.

If it were not for my brother and sister and my neices and nephews and their children, I would shut down Facebook in an instant. But, they're family, and I love my family.

12. I don't care what FB uses and doesn't use of mine...

Nor do I fret over targeted ads.

I also LOVE Google Earth and the funny pictures its unmanned cars take of people picking their nose and sunbathing.

I find nothing nefarious about any of it and encourage more people to add to it.

This is the Information Age and it doesn't frighten me. I'm no technophobe.

Personally, I believe this privacy baloney is hyped by the tinfoil industry.

I like the German style of privacy. Read this article if you want about how the German government is trying to limit Google and Facebook from collecting the plethora of information that they do.
