Its in our news here in South Carolina that people in Newberry county were bothered by the noise and calling 911 about it.
I wonder, but I have no way of finding out if the people who called and who are bothered by it are transplants from other areas.
.
I dont think cicadas are just restricted to the southern states. Are the cicadas very noisy in your area? Please indicate where you are.
But the last 17 year invasion was a bust, so I'm not expecting much this year. (Ohio, and in the area that is supposed to be invaded)

(4,554 posts)And are due for some today, here in the Northern New York area, I can report that the cicadas are not bothering us yet. 😀
If we get them, it probably wont be until we celebrate Flag Day, the 4th, or later!
🤣🤣🤣
P.s. Im hoping the people in South Carolina who called the cops were just not aware what the sounds were. Otherwise, if they did know, what did they expect the police to do about cicada singing?

(102,376 posts)so, no. But I can't imagine their noise bothering me all that much. I've certainly experienced overwhelming numbers of crickets and katydids at night in the summer so...
I say, give some latitude to the cicadas and celebrate their very brief return.
